CARMA Consortium Webcast Program
The Office of Research Administration and the Office of Graduate Studies, in conjunction with the Center for the Advancement of Research Methods and Analysis (CARMA), are pleased to present the CARMA Consortium Webcast Program. This series has been established to provide University faculty and graduate students with advanced training in research methods and data analysis. McNair Scholars recruiting
The McNair Scholars program is actively recruiting new scholars. The McNair Scholars Program is a two-year, federally funded program designed to prepare selected (low-income and first to attend college, or underrepresented in major area of study) Sacramento State students in junior and senior standing for admission and study at the doctoral level.

Sacramento State’s University Library invites students, faculty and the community to attend tea ceremonies in the Sokiku Nakatani Tea Room and Garden on the lower level of the Library at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. or 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 26. A tea ceremony will also be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27. The tea ceremonies are 45 minutes each and are free.

Additional Serna Center speaker
Assembly member Anna Caballero will be speaking in the University Union’s Forest Suite from 1 -1:45 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, at a presentation of the Serna Center. She is expected to focus on the current California housing crisis—an issue on which she has been very active in the State Legislature—and the importance of public service for California young people.
Caballero has a long history of activism, including many years as an attorney for California Rural Legal Assistance. Last year she was named "Legislator of the Year" by the League of California Cities.
Students are encouraged to attend, as well as faculty members and their classes.

Professor Scott Parady is involved in three different ceramic art shows, one at Berkeley’s Trax Ceramics Gallery, one at La Mesa in Pittsburgh, Pa. and one at Sacramento’s b. sakata garo gallery. An opening reception for the Sacramento show, “Parady Vessels: Reflections on Process,” will be held from 6 – 9 p.m., Saturday, March 8.

New Absence Tracking system
Effective with the February 2008 pay period, Sacramento State will begin tracking employee leave accruals and usage through a new leave accounting module in CMS which is called Absence Management. Employees will access their leave information via their SacLink account. The link to view leave balances in Absence Management is being developed, and instructions on accessing and viewing leave information will be provided as soon as the link is completed. When the link becomes available, employees who are eligible for leave accruals can log on and verify their leave balances. This information will no longer be displayed on pay warrants. Employees who do not have access to a personal computer to view their leave balances may request the information from their department.

Recruiting Solutions—Search Committee Training
Recruiting Solutions, Human Resource's new CMS on-line application system for staff and MPP positions going live on March 3, will require search committee members to be trained on how to view applications in the on-line environment. Search Committee Training dates have been set up on the following days: March 7, 14, 21, 27, and April 4 from 10:30 -11:30 a.m., in ARC 3008. Each session can accommodate 20 registrants. Staff awards luncheon
The Staff Awards Luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 18, in the University Union’s Ballroom. The event will honor University staff and administrators, as well as employees of University Enterprises and Associated Students for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service.
Tickets are $12 per person and must be purchased by April 8. Tickets will not be available for purchase at the door.
