Staff Employee Recognition
Recipients for the Staff Employee Recognition Program are Carmen Cataldo, Deneilia Pappas and Robert Uribe.
Cataldo is the events manager for University Advancement and was described by her nominator as "one of the University's most effective instruments for achieving the goals of Destination 2010." Her colleague mentioned, "Carmen foresees all of the details that make or break an event and she has a talent for the extra touches that set Sac State's events apart."
Pappas is the administrative analyst/specialist for Academic Affairs. Her nominator said, "she spearheaded the implementation of the CMS catalog and course scheduling module. Deneilia represents the best qualities when it comes to teamwork, respect and long-standing service to the campus community."
Uribe is a maintenance specialist for the University Union. His nominator mentioned that he is "a skilled worker who shows professionalism in his job." He was described as "displaying patience and guidance at all times."

IRA Budget Call notice
The 2008/09 Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) Call for Proposals is now posted on the Web. Documents can be retrieved at www.csus.edu/aba/ira/.

The State Hornet picks up 11 Associate Collegiate Press awards
Sacramento State’s student-run newspaper, The State Hornet, picked up 11 awards this month at the Associated Collegiate Press national conference in San Francisco.
There were two sets of awards: a national contest open to all newspapers that sent participants to the conference, and a state contest, sponsored by the California College Media Association, for work published in 2007.
The awards: ACP – onsite national contest
1st place – best interactive element online (for The Hornet’s interactive police log map – Kevin Woodard)
3rd place – best audio podcast (a video by Jonathan Miller, Karyn Gilbert, Cody Kitaura and Alicia de la Garza)
4th place – best website
7th place – best of show (print edition)
CCMA – statewide contest
1st place – best news page design (Ashley Evans)
2nd place – best cartoon (Paul Rios)
2nd place – best breaking news story (Nika Megino - Journalism 2007, Nate Miller and Matt Beltran)

Sacramento State employees may voluntarily donate to other employees up to a maximum of 16 hours of sick or vacation leave credits each fiscal year in one-hour increments. CSUEU, MPP, Unit 4, Unit 6 and confidential employees may donate up to 40 hours per fiscal year.
