Committee nominations open
The President’s Office is seeking staff nominations for consideration and appointment to the following committees:

Transportation Advisory Committee has an opening for a staff representative to serve through June 2009 and another to serve through June 2010. For more information, visit

The Committee for Persons with Disabilities is seeking a staff representative to serve through June 2008. Visit for more information.

The Alcohol Advisory Council has a staff representative opening to serve through June 2008. Visit for more information.

The University President makes appointments to the committees after receiving recommendations. Staff members interested in serving must have permission from their immediate supervisor and submit a brief statement of interest. All nominations must be received in the President’s Office by Friday, Sept. 7. They also may be sent to or by campus mail, zip 6022. For more information, call the President’s Office at 87737.

Construction continues
Sections of Parking Structure II will be closed off for maintenance starting today, Monday, Aug. 13. Work will continue for three weeks.

Site work is underway in Serna Plaza between the new Hornet Bookstore and the University Union. Pedestrians may be rerouted around the construction area.

Roofing work continues at Shasta Hall this week. The building is open during construction.

Chilled water pipe installation will take place this week in front of Shasta Hall. Pedestrians will be rerouted during construction.

Opera for books
Aug. 15 is the deadline for discount tickets to the Opera in the Park fund-raiser from Friends of the Library. Cost is $53 for adults and $8 for children 16 and under. After Aug. 15, the prices jump to $58 and $10. The event is San Francisco Opera’s salute for 2007-08 and will be held Sunday, Sept. 9. The bus leaves at 9:15 a.m. from the Sacramento State Alumni Center, with a return scheduled for 6 p.m. There will be treats and refreshments. Participants should bring a low, folding “sand” chair. Catastrophic Leave Donation Program
Sacramento State employees may voluntarily donate to other employees up to a maximum of 16 hours of sick or vacation leave credits each fiscal year in one-hour increments. CSUEU, MPP, Unit 4, Unit 6 and Confidential employees may donate up to a maximum of 40 hours per fiscal year.

If employees are interested in donating time, a donation form can be obtained by going to, or by visiting the Human Resources, Disability Leaves Office in Sacramento Hall 162, or by calling extension 278-3522.
