Construction
update
The Infrastructure II utilities upgrade project continues in various locations.
Starting this week, the infrastructure project will be installing a 35,000-gallon
sewage storage tank across the street from Parking Structure I. Traffic in both
directions on State University West shall be maintained however lanes will shift
due to construction. Construction will last approximately six months. Alternate
routes for pedestrians and bikes will be available.
Work on the steam
and chilled water pipe installation may at times disrupt pedestrian/service
traffic along Sinclair Road. Detours will be available.
Fire alarm installation will occur in the Sequoia, Amador and Capistrano buildings
this week. Work will mainly be conducted after hours. Work notices will be posted
in the building.
Trucks may also
be entering and exiting State University Drive West to access the bicycle path
project site. A temporary pedestrian pathway which runs parallel to State University
Drive West from the Hornet Tunnel to Sinclair Road is open. Work will also occur

Open enrollment
ends this week
The California Public Employee's Retirement System has extended the annual open
enrollment period to Oct. 13. Open enrollment transactions generally consist
of enrolling in a program, adding a dependent, cancelling/enrolling in healthcare
benefits and enrolling/cancelling Flex Cash, authorizing a 2007 health care
reimbursement/dependent care reimbursement account, and changing from one plan
to another. Anyone who has not received the open enrollment announcement and
additional resource information distributed by CalPERS should go to the Benefits

Open house
at new home of PRIDE Center
The PRIDE Center will hold an open house on National Coming Out Day on Oct.
11 from 3-5 p.m. at its new location, Foley Hall 110. The PRIDE Center designates
the day as a step forward for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Inter-sex,
Queer, Questioning, Ally (LGBTIQQA) community on campus. The open house will
feature information and resources for faculty, staff and students. For more

See the
country’s top collegiate water skiers
The Sacramento State Aquatic Center and the Sacramento State Water Ski Team
will host the National Collegiate Water Ski Association’s 2006 Collegiate
Water Ski National Championships Oct. 12-14 at Bell Acqua Water Ski Park in
Rio Linda. Parking and admission are free. More than 300 of the country’s
top collegiate men and women water skiers will compete. For more information,

The latest
in environmental innovations
Automotive experts from General Motors will present an audio-visual presentation
on environmental innovations by GM, the world’s largest automotive company,
on Oct. 11 at 9 a.m. in Orchard Suite II and III on the second floor of the
University Union. Cars will be on display outside of Riverside Hall. For more

Center sessions available
The Maryjane Rees Language, Speech and Hearing Center, located in Shasta Hall
172, offers free speech, language and hearing assessments and treatment to Sacramento

of Business associate dean search
A national search is under way to fill the position of associate dean for graduate
and external programs in the College of Business Administration. Screening of
applications will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 1, and the position is expected to

Art exhibition
at Else Gallery
The art exhibition “Circumlocutio” is on the display in the Else
Gallery through Oct. 27. The exhibition features the recent works on paper by

University Archives open house Oct. 11
The University Archives and Special Collections will host an open house on Wednesday,
Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Library 1502 in recognition of California
Archives Month. University Archives staff and volunteers from the Society of
American Archivists Student Chapter will be on hand to give tours and answer
questions about the vast holdings in the Archives. All forms of media from the
collections will be on display and visitors are welcome to view "The Art

Holocaust survivor to speak Oct. 18
David Faber, Holocaust survivor and author of Because of Romek: A Holocaust
Survivor’s Memoir, will share his experiences with the campus community
on Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in University Union Ballroom III.
Copies of Faber’s book will be available for sale (paperback $13, hardbound

Welcome fall with the Harvest Buffet
A buffet with a Harvest theme will be hosted by the University Center Restaurant
on Oct. 18 and 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The buffet will include butternut squash
soup, apple cinnamon pork roast, chicken in sun-dried tomato pesto cream sauce,
grilled bratwurst, assorted quick breads, vegetables, grilled polenta and salads.
Desserts include vanilla ice cream, cake or sweet potato pie. The cost is $11.95
per person, beverages additional. The University Center Restaurant is located

Catastrophic Leave Donation Program
Sacramento State employees may voluntarily donate to other employees a maximum
of 16 hours of sick or vacation leave credits each fiscal year in one-hour increments.
CSUEU, MPP, Unit 4, Unit 6 and Confidential employees may donate a maximum of
40 hours per fiscal year.
If employees are interested in donating time, a donation form can be obtained
