Parents & Guardian Program

Congratulations on your son's or daughter's acceptance into Sacrament State! We are excited that your student chose Sacramento State - we feel he or she has made an excellent choice for many reasons. Your student's next step is to attend First Year Orientation. As a parent or guardian, we hope you will attend Orientation, as well.

Our First Year Orientation Parent & Guardian Program is designed to help you learn as much as possible about the University so you will be in a better position to encourage and support your student while he/she is pursuing a degree at Sacramento State. During Orientation, you will learn about academic requirements necessary for your student to earn a degree and the numerous programs and services available to help him or her reach that goal. Many of these services are free!

In addition, please check out the Sacramento State Parents & Families Program for more information and resources you might find beneficial.

F.R.O.S.H. Night

With over 28,000 students and a large campus, Sacramento State can be a bit intimidating for new students. To help students feel more comfortable and connect with students in a similar situation, First Year Orientation offers a special optional program: F.R.O.S.H. Night.

During F.R.O.S.H. Night, your student will spend the night in the residence halls and participate in fun, engaging activities to help them get to know other students. In addition, Orientation staff will be on hand to help them put together their class schedule. This is a great opportunity for new students regardless of whether your student will commute or live on campus this fall.  For details, check out F.R.O.S.H. Night website.
