What Happens After Orientation?
Check-out the library quad during the first two weeks of classes. Many student clubs and organizations will be looking for new members.
Below is a list of what students should do following Orientation:
Register for Classes - Students register for classes by going to their My Sac State account. Course registration for new students begin the week of December 16, 2013
Pay Registration Fees - After registering for classes, students must visit their My Sac State account to check their Student Center for account information. Students MUST pay their registration fees during the period indicated. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of registered classes. If students filed for financial aid (loans, grants, work-study), they should contact Financial Aid or visit their website for additional information. Students can check their award status on My Sac State.
Purchase a Parking Permit - Parking permits can be purchased at an additional charge when paying registration fees. Students can also purchase parking permits at the Student Financial Services Center in Lassen Hall or the University Transportation & Parking Services (UTAPS) office in Folsom Hall. Daily passes can be purchased in designated parking lots for $6. For Residence Hall permits, call UTAPS at (916) 278-7275. For information about Permits for Students with Disabilities call Services for Students with Disabilities (SSWD ) at (916) 278-6955. Semester parking passes are currently $162.
Locate and Arrange for Housing - Looking for a convenient place to live in Sacramento? There are many options. Students can live in our residence halls (check out our newest residence hall, American River Courtyard), live in campus affiliated apartments (Upper Eastside Lofts) or get information on roommates and local apartments. For details, contact Housing & Residential Life at (916) 278-6655.
Make Sure You Have a OneCard Student ID - If you didn’t get your student ID card during Orientation, visit Student Financial Services in Lassen Hall.
Submit Final Transcripts - All new students are required to submit their final official transcripts no later than January 16, 2014. This requirement includes submission of any AP scores. Mail to Enrollment Services, 6000 J Street, Sacramento, CA 95819-6048.
Purchase Textbooks and Technology - Students can purchase textbooks online through the Hornet Bookstore. In addition, students can purchase computers and software at special academic prices through the Hornet Bookstore Computer department. For details on books and technology, visit the Hornet Bookstore.
Present Proof of Immunization - All students born after January 1, 1957 are required to show proof of immunity to measles and rubella. Students 18 years and younger are required to show proof of immunization against hepatitis B. Students should present copies of their immunization records to the Sac State Health Center. Verifications of immunity will be requested during the first semester. Failure to comply with this requirement will prevent students from registering in future semesters.
Explore On-Campus Employment - There are a variety of on-campus jobs available for students who wish to earn money and gain valuable experience. Visit the Career Center website and the Student Employment website for job listings.
Schedule a Library tour – The Sacramento State Library has many resources and study spaces available for students. Check it out!
Find upcoming Campus Events using the Sac State Events Calendar – Research shows that students who get involved outside the classroom do better inside the classroom. Sac State has literally hundreds of ways for you to get involved—from student clubs and organizations and intramural sports, to outdoor fun through PEAK adventures and getting fit at The WELL. There’s something for every student—reach out, and engage with the campus community!
Go To Class - The first of classes is Monday, January 27, 2014.
