The California Journalism Awards were established by the Center to recognize, encourage and reward excellence
in reporting of California state government and politics. Co-sponsored by the Sacramento Press Club, awards are
given for excellence in three categories: print journalism, radio journalism, and television journalism. Two awards
are given in each category - one for daily coverage and one for special feature/enterprise reporting. Each award is
accompanied by a cash prize of $500.
Dates to remember...
- August 13, 2007 - Deadline for submitting entries (print, radio and television awards)
- September 10, 2007 - Deadline for submitting entries for student journalism awards
- September 27, 2007 - Awards Luncheon
This year's luncheon will be held at the beautiful Sterling Hotel at 1300 H Street from noon to 1:30 p.m. The keynote address will be given by Lance Williams, a reporter with the San Francisco Chronicle who covered the BALCO steroids case.
The cost to attend the luncheon is $25.00 per ticket and students with a valid id are $15.00. Interested persons should RSVP by September 21, 2007 by calling 916-278-6906.
