Consuelo Hernandez
Director, Assembly Fellowship Program

Ms. Hernandez joined the Center in 2007 after serving as the Director of Governmental Affairs for L.A. Health Care Plan.  In her previous position, she was responsible for framing, overseeing and implementing governmental affairs strategies at the local, state and federal levels. Ms. Hernandez served in the California State Legislature from 1997 to 2000 as a legislative consultant for State Senator Deborah Ortiz. In that position, she specialized in legislation affecting public safety, local government, health, and the judiciary.

Prior to working in the Legislature, Ms. Hernandez was an attorney with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal from 1995-1997 and with Baker & Hostetler from 1994-1995 where she worked in the area of labor and employment law. She received her B. A. in Human Development from UC Davis and her J. D. from Stanford Law School. She is admitted to practice law in California.
