Getting Started with Canvas: Most Common Faculty Questions

    • When can I transition? You can transition your courses anytime from Fall 2017 through Fall 2018. All Spring 2019 courses will be in Canvas.View Transition Timeline
    • How do I get started? We can't accept additional Fall 2017 classes in Canvas but you can dive in and begin building future classes right now! Each faculty member has been provisioned with three "development" course shells in Canvas to test/learn/prepare content and shells for your future courses will be automatically created.  (Don't see blank "development" course shells when you log in or need more than the three you have? Request course shells here.)
    • How do I access Canvas? You can access Canvas through My Sac State or log in directly at http://canvas.csus.edu/ to get started. Canvas also offers a Teacher app which provides a limited set of the full system's functionality: iOS and Android
    • How do I get help with Canvas? An array of resources are available to you and your students through the Help menu in Canvas. Additionally, you can contact our Academic Technology Center support team at academictechcenter@csus.edu, 278-2450, or reserve a time to meet with an ATC consultant in person.
    • Can I migrate my Blackboard course content to Canvas? All Blackboard content from Fall 2015 through Summer 2017 will automatically be migrated to Canvas and available by early October 2017. You can choose to rebuild your courses using this content, start from scratch, request migration of Blackboard content outside of this window, or try migrating your own course content.
