New Changes to the Career Center’s
alumni policy effective Fall 2009
Due to an increase in the demand for Career Center services our alumni policy has been updated. Eligibility for Career Center services will be available for those alumni who graduated within the last two years. If you graduated prior to 2007, you may still purchase the Alumni Services Package, although your eligibility will expire on August 31, 2009*.
Additional community employment and career counseling-related services are available on our website. Career Connection, our online job posting service may also be purchased for an annual fee of $25 for any Sacramento State or CSU alumni.

Alumni Services
- Walk-in Services: Attend a 15-20 minute Session with Career Counseling staff who will assist alumni and make referrals to Career Center, campus, and/or community services/resources as needed.
- Follow-up Career Counseling Sessions: Participate in one to five 50-minute appointments with a career counselor per calendar year. Services include, but are not limited to, life transitions; discovering meaningful work; decision-making and goal setting; assessment of skills, values, and interests; creating work/life balance; educational planning; overcoming obstacles to achieving life/career goals; job search strategies; resume writing; and interviewing techniques.
- Career Resource Library: Utilize career resource information by industry, major, and interest area. Information on resumes and cover letters, graduate schools, job search resources, internships, resources for educators, international jobs, and related videos, are also available.
- Computerized Career Information Center: Access 5 workstations with Internet access to education, career, and job search-related information. Our computerized career information systems, EUREKA and Choices, provide users with valuable access to various modules, including self-exploration, vocational schools, undergraduate and graduate programs, how to start your own business, occupational and industry information, and decision-making and goal setting.
- Career Center Handouts and Booklets: Pick up numerous career-related handouts and magazines in the Career Resource Library. Check out our Career Center Handbook for valuable career and job search articles. Our website, www.csus.edu/careercenter, is an excellent resource for information on our services and programs, including upcoming events.
- Career Center Events: Attend any or all of the Fall and Spring Career Fairs, Government Agency Career Fair, Speed Interviewing, Resume Makeover, Engineering Career Fair (ECS event), Educator Expo, Etiquette Dinner.
- On-campus Recruitment: Participate in the On-campus Recruitment Program on a second priority basis. The program offers interviews conducted in the Career Center by employer representatives throughout the fall and spring semesters.
- Lecture Series and Panels: Attend presentations by employers focusing on specific topics or by a specific industry, college, or field. Lecture events and panels are posted on Career Connection and website.
- Career Connection: Access our online job posting database that includes full-time, part-time, internship, and cooperative education positions, listed by employers from the Sacramento area and Northern California. Also, there are Career Center events and workshops posted.
- Practice for Interview Sessions: Practice your interview skills with a career counselor for graduate and professional school interviews and employment-related interviews.
* Graduation dates need to be verified before receiving Career Center services. Please allow up to 2 business days for the verification process to be completed. Alumni can expect to be contacted via email outlining eligible services.
