Career Connection
Career Connection is the Career Center's online job and career management system. This online job posting service allows students to search full-time, part-time, internship, and volunteer positions within the Sacramento area. The system also lists Career Center events and links to those employers participating in Career Center events.

Informational Interviews
An informational interview is a great way to gather first-hand information about an occupation or a field you'd like to know more about. Talking with someone who has knowledge of the field or is already working in the profession can be helpful in obtaining up-to-date information. The information you obtain can also assist you in making a more informed decision about the type of education you need for the career you are considering.

Job Shadowing
Job-shadowing is a close cousin of informational interviewing, in which career-explorers or job-seekers conduct short interviews with people in their prospective professions to learn more about those fields. Job-shadowing can be thought of as an expanded informational interview. Where an informational interview typically lasts about a half hour, a job-shadowing experience can be anywhere from a few hours, to a day, to a week or more, depending on what you can mutually arrange with the person you've chosen to shadow.

Internships
The Career Center has information and resources available on internships. Internships provide
students with academically related work experience and in many cases, pay. Internships are
designed to give students the opportunity to work in pre-professional positions while still in
school. Internships are any type of carefully planned and monitored work experience in which the intern has intentional learning goals.

Cooperative Education
While an internship may be paid or unpaid, a co-op position is always a paid position and students
are required to enroll in an academic course for variable credit. Additionally, students must be a
junior, senior or graduate student. Co-ops are high-level positions that allow students to directly apply what they have learned in their coursework.

Volunteering
VolunteerMatch and the Volunteer Center of Sacramento are also excellent resources dedicated to
helping everyone find a great place to volunteer. The organizations offer a variety of online
services to support a community of nonprofit, volunteer and business leaders committed to civic engagement.

Community Engagement Center
Community Engagement Center provides students with various forms of engagement, including civic learning and community service. Community Engagement Center works closely with local non-profits, schools, government agencies, and campus-based programs that provide service to underserved, underrepresented populations throughout the Sacramento Region.
