Informational
Interviews
| |
One way to learn about the world of work is to meet with people
who are working in careers in which you have an interest or
you would like to learn more about. The Career Center can
help you learn how to conduct informational interviews and
what questions to ask. |
Career
Center Events
|
Career Center events provide students with an
opportunity to talk with employers, pick-up company/industry
literature, and learn the type of positions students can expect
to go into while they are in school and after graduation. |
Career
Connection
 |
Career Connection is online career management
system that lists Career Center events and workshops, on-campus
recruitment Interviews, professional networking, resume books,

provide students with real-life experience to explore new
areas of interest and develop practical skills and knowledge
within a work environment. |
Full-Time/

|
In addition to helping you financially, part-time
and full-time positions provide students with opportunities
to gain valuable skills and knowledge. Transferable skills,
such as organizational skills, communications skills, writing
skills, and project management skills are those skills that
are transferable to other fields and areas of your life. |

 |
Another way to gain valuable insight into what
people to in their jobs is to participate in a job shadowing
experience. A job shadowing experience takes more time on
the employer's part, so some employers may be too busy. However,
when students contact an employer to learn more about a particular
field, you can inquire about a job shadowing, which usually
involves "shadowing" someone for ½ of a day or all
day to learn more about what they do. The Career Center can
assist you with learning more about job shadowing |
Volunteering

Volunteering is another way to gain valuable
training and experience. In addition to giving back to your

Student
Clubs and Organizations
 |
A great way to meet students who share common
interests! Search student clubs according to categories such
as sports, hobbies, cultures, academics and professional fields.
Activities and events that student clubs sponsor often introduce
students to the world of work and opportunities with their
chosen field of interest. |
