Internet Search Engines

    For example: Google.com -Did you know that in google, you can restrict your search to the URLs of Web sites by including "inurl:word1" in your search (note: there are no spaces on either side of the ":")? E.g., "pholosophy inurl:internships" will access philosophy websites with the word "internships" appearing in the URL.

    Type in a simple phrase such as "History Internship in Washington, DC"

    Another Example: internships.wetfeet.com


Websites of Professional Organizations for Your Career Field

For example: Association of Electrical Engineers (AEE) or the American Psychological Association (APA )


Federal and State Government Internships

To search for federal and state government internships, click here.


Chambers of Commerce

    Use Google.com or another search engine

    Type in "Chamber of Commerce" for your area of choice. For example: "Chamber of Commerce for Sacramento, California"

    Follow link and look for the online member directory

    Some Chambers will list members by categories such as accountants, engineering, etc.

    From there, follow the links to specific organization websites


Business Journal For Your Region

    The Career Center receives Sacramento Business Journal's weekly publication and makes it avaliable for browsing in our reception area.

    Use Google.com or another search engine

    Type in "Business Journal" -for example: "Business Journal for Sacramento, California

    Follow the Link and research the site

    Look for theBusiness Journal's "Top List" or "Book of Lists" online

    The Career Center also purchases the Sacramento Business Journal's yearly publication of the Top 25 Book of Lists and makes it avaliable for student browsing. It is kept behind the Recruitment Counter.


Phone Book

    Yellow Pages: many non-profit organizations are listed under the "Association" section

    Blue Pages:human service agencies, local, state and federal government agencies are listed here.
