Japanese Scholars Visit CCP



Summary:

In June, the Center for Collaborative Policy hosted a delegation of scholars from Kumamoto University in Japan, led by Professor Hironori Ito. The delegation attended several sessions to learn more about the Center's collaborative governance practice in natural resource conservation, local government, and public participation. They also met with Sacramento County Executive Steve Szalay and Chief Operating Officer Navdeep Gill, and with Davis City Council member Stephen Souza during the visit. In August Kumamoto University PhD student Satoshi Ishida completed his nine month term as a visiting scholar at the Center, where he worked on research of collaborative processes and public participation in Sacramento for his dissertation.

The delegation included: Ms. Kayako Kobayashi, Local Counciler of Yufu City, Oita Prefecture; Professor Hironori Ito, Kumamoto University School of Law; Dr. Yasushi Iwabuchi, Doctoral researcher, Graduate School of Social and Cultural Science; Ms.Madoka Iwasaki, undergraduate student, Kumamoto University, School of Law; Mr.Kunji Doi, assistant researcher, Kyushu Univ, Graduate School of Law Studies; and Satoshi Ishida, Ph.d Candidate, Graduate School of Social and Cultural Science, Kumamoto University.
