David Sumi, CCP Webmaster and Assistant Facilitator, joined the Center for Collaborative Policy in September 2003. David has worked on a variety of assignments for the Center, including projects involving the California Water Plan Update, Delta Vision, statewide public safety radio interoperability, the Statewide Emergency Management System (SEMS), and off-highway vehicle recreation.
Originally from Huntington Beach, California, David’s career in public service began as assistant custodian for Huntington Beach Central Park followed by a summer as a research fellow for the USC Sustainable Cities Program, and an internship with the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation Integrated Resources Planning Team. While in college, David had assignments as volunteer tutor and teacher for the USC Joint Education Project and was appointed as an undergraduate teaching assistant for a successful pilot course, “Public Service in an Urban Setting.” Immediately prior to joining the Center, David had been an Executive Fellow with the California Department of Water Resources working on statewide water resources planning.
David Sumi graduated summa cum laude as a full-tuition Trustee Scholar from the University of Southern California in 2002 with a B.S. in Public Policy & Management. He is currently a graduate student in the Public Policy & Administration program at California State University, Sacramento.
