Jeff Loux, Ph.D., is director of the Land Use and Natural Resources Program at UC Davis, Extension responsible for managing 140 short courses, conferences, and training sessions per year for over 4,200 participants in dispute resolution, land use planning, natural resource management, environmental planning and regulation, water resources and public policy. As an Associate of the Center, Dr. Loux has mediated the award-winning Sacramento Area Water Forum for six years and has served as facilitator for other clients such as the Sacramento Flood Control Agency, the Sacramento Riverfront Project, and the Yolo County Water Resources Policy Project. Prior to his university service, Dr. Loux was a principal with the consulting firm of Moore, Iacofano & Goltsman (MIG) and served for seven years as the planning director for the City of Davis.
Dr. Loux has over 20 years of experience in land use planning, facilitation, natural resource consulting and water policy teaching/research. From 2002-2004, Dr. Loux served as Vice President for Policy and Legislation and Board Member of the California Chapter of the American Planning Association; in that period, the chapter reviewed and had dialogue regarding hundreds of legislative proposals and sponsored several important bills, including AB 857 "smart growth" legislation for California. Dr. Loux is an Adjunct Faculty in Landscape Architecture at UC Davis, teaching courses in Urban Design, Sustainable Planning and Water Resources Management. Dr. Loux has written numerous articles and a seminal book, Water and Land Use, published by Solano Press Books. Dr. Loux received his doctorate in Environmental Planning from U.C. Berkeley. He has authored various articles and book chapters on water policy and using collaborative techniques in natural resources management, and has spoken at conferences across the State, nation and internationally.
