Senior Mediaor and Facilitator Sarah Rubin has been working with the Center since 2002, and in the field of conflict resolution and consensus building for over sixteen years. Her areas of experience include dispute resolution, mediation, facilitation, strategic planning, visioning, civic engagement, assessment, process design, coaching, and other adaptive strategies to enhance the policy outcomes of partnerships and groups.
She has worked with government agencies and community based organizations on issues such as alternative energy, emergency response and planning, utilities, air quality, water resources, public health and citizen/ government disputes. She especially enjoys elicitive, or group-driven, processes as participants typically find them more empowering, with more creative and durable results than prescriptive approaches.

Before relocating to Northern California in 2000, Ms. Rubin was the Project Director of the Crown Heights Community Mediation Center in Brooklyn, NY. Ms. Rubin has her M.A. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. While at George Mason she worked at the Key Bridge Foundation as a case manager for the Americans with Disabilities Act Mediation Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice.
