During Alternative Break winter 2013, 35 Sac State students volunteering over the course of one to five days, contributed a total 396.75 hours of service to local Sacramento communities and non-profits.
Wildlife Care Association
Monday, January 21
Eleven volunteers helped the Wildlife Care Association clean and maintain aviaries, organize storage, and build 70 nursery habitats, providing space for up to 420 injured small and baby birds. View Photos >>

Tuesday, January 22
21 volunteers weeded and helped clean up the site of a future community garden. View Photos >>
Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services
Wednesday, January 23 and Thursday, January 24
19 volunteers on Wednesday and 22 on Thursday braved winter weather to help distribute food to 406 Sacramento households. In total, food supplies were provided for 739 adults, 71 seniors, 511 children and 71 infants.
