66 Sac State volunteers supported this biggest museum event of the year. Volunteers directed guests and parking, set up and monitored exhibits, assisted with presentations, staffed tables, and more for a combined 317 hours of service!

Volunteers moved fences, built corrals, and did some heavy lifting to help a fully volunteer supported non-profit organization, All About Equine Animal Rescue. Two miniature horses were even able to use their new round exercise pen before we left!

In recognition of the University's 2012/2013 One World Inititative theme, Water, Sac State Serves supported the American River Parkway Foundation for a second year of river cleanup near campus. Volunteers removed trash and debris along the American River to help prevent pollutants from entering the watershed, harming wildlife, or creating hazards for recreational users.

The Color Run is a 5K course where runners/walkers are dusted with different colors as they progress to the finish line. While Color Runs take place all over the country, each one benefits a local charity; Sacramento’s Color Run raised funds for the non-profit organization, Girls on the Run.

During the 10th Annual Sacramento Chef Challenge, professional chefs competed head to head in a live culinary competition and guests sampled from over 100 local restaurants, wineries, and breweries. Volunteers helped set up, support vendors, sell tickets, and more for this fundraising event benefitting INALLIANCE, a non-profit providing services to adults with disabilities.

Volunteers supported Soil Born Farm's annual harvest kick off and community celebration, featuring a farm stand, cooking classes, tours and nature walks, entertainment, hands on activities, and community education tables. Volunteers checked in bikes and strollers at the valet section, directed patrons to the event and parking, and supervised children who participated in field activities.

Inspired by the 1 million boxes of cookies our volunteers helped distribute during the February Mega Cookie Drop, Sac State Serves' volunteers supervised and assisted with a variety of games, activities, and demonstrations to ensure over 12,000 scouts had a safe, and memorable experience.

Volunteers helped distribute over 1 million boxes of cookies to local Girl Scout troops for their annual fundraiser by directing traffic, communicating with drivers, and loading cookies into delivery vehicles.

Sac State Serves spent Martin Luther King, Jr. Day volunteering to better our community. Volunteers supported Harvest Sacramento in picking and boxing fruit from residential fruit trees in local Sacramento neighborhoods. Afterwards, volunteers Afterwards, volunteers were treated to Harvest Sacramento's community celebration with food, music and conversation. Over 4400 pounds of harvested fruit was donated to local food assistance programs which provide emergency food supplies to Sacramento area residents.

Sac State Serves volunteers spent a frosty morning as course monitors cheering on racers big and small for this family friendly fun run and pancake breakfast benefiting Caleb Greenwood Elementary.

33 volunteers contributed over 200 hours as a group supporting this youth safety education program fundraiser. Volunteers ran games, painted faces, inspired art, and added the "spook" to a harvest maze for this spook-fest of a good time at a minitature town built especially for small children.

The American River Parkway Foundation supports the preservation, protection, enhancement and appreciation of the parkway's natural resources. On Saturday, September 17, from 9 am - noon, over 120 students, staff, and alumni took part with Sac State Serves in the ARP Foundation's annual Great American River Cleanup. Volunteers of all ages removed trash and debris along the river near Howe Avenue and Sac State's Alumni Grove to help prevent pollutants from entering the watershed, harming wildlife, or creating hazards for recreational users.

Sacramento hosted 5,000 athletes from over 90 countries. Over the course of 5 days (July 11, 12, 14, 15, & 16), 22 Sac State Serves volunteers gave over 200 hours to help welcome athletes and support the event on and off the field.

Sac State Serves' volunteers helped to expand this second annual charity fundraiser from a one to two day event, aiding in everything from set up and parking to selling baked goods and items donated by the Sacramento community. Proceeds will benefit the 15,000 animals that enter the Sacramento County Animal Shelter each year.

Sac State Serves joined hundreds of volunteers for Sacramento Steps Forward's Homeless Connect 2011, a one-stop resource event estimated to have served 800 homeless folks. These men, women, and children accessed a myriad of services including housing, legal assistance, health and dental, haircuts and foot washing, employment services, clothing closets, information booths, and more! Sac State Serves volunteers were instrumental in supporting guest check in, healthcare hospitality, and guiding guests through resource stations.

37 Sac State volunteers took part in the Sacramento Ronald McDonald House Outdoor Work Party, a volunteer effort to trim small trees and bushes, pull weeds, pick up trash, and help keep the grounds at the Sacramento Ronald McDonald House beautiful for the families of children who are currently undergoing medical treatment.

The Race for the Arts' 5 km Run/Walk and Children's Fun Runs in William Land Park sought to raise funds, increase awareness and help build audiences for school and community arts programs. Sac State Serves supported this effort by volunteering as course monitors, setting up and distributing water to runners/walkers, timing racers and distributing ribbons at the finish line, and assisting with post-race food and beverage service.

Sac State Serves had a wild time at the Sacramento Zoo's Ice Cream Safari. Sac State Serves' volunteers helped scoop ice cream, paint faces, serve refreshments and more, while enjoying plenty of complimentary ice cream as we supported this fundraiser for the Zoo. This year the Ice Cream Safari raised money to help upgrade the Zoo's Otter exhibit.

Sac State Serves took part in Creek Week for a fun morning of river and riparian area trash cleanup and removal of invasive plant species to restore many of Sacramento County’s creeks. The event was followed by an afternoon volunteer celebration hosted by the Creek Week organization.
