If you live on or near campus, you really don't need a car. As a Sac State student you can leave your car at home and hop on Sacramento Rapid Transit buses, the RT Light Rail, or the Sac State Shuttle. All of those services are free for Sac State students. Information about on-campus parking and permit cost can be found on the University Transportation and Parking Services (UTAPS) website at Sac State has many surface parking lots (including those near the residence halls) as well as several parking structures. With gas prices as high as they are, students who commute may want to consider car pooling, which saves money and helps the environment, too.
