What's Undeclared Mean?

Technically, being "undeclared" means that you have not chosen a major. Some students have no idea what they want to study in college, so they label themselves as "undeclared" while they examine the majors that make sense for them. Being undeclared gives you a few semesters to figure out what you want to focus onóbut we do encourage students to choose a major by their fourth semester.

The best thing about not declaring your major right away is that you can try out anything you like during your first year or so. The Academic Advising and Career Center staff can help you explore majors while you also meet general education requirements. There are so many classes available, you’re bound to find a few that are interesting.

The Career Center is the perfect place to get information about majors and careers.
