Chemistry 1A/1E Diagnostic exam
Registration required. Seating is limited and you will be notified if the exam date you picked is full.

Chem 1A: All students who want to register for chem 1A must take the Chemistry Diagnostic Exam before REGISTERING for the class. The system will not allow you to register for the class unless a passing score on the Chemistry Diagnostic Exam is present on your record. The exam will NOT be offered after the semester begins. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Chem 1E: All students who want to register for chem 1E must take the Chemistry Diagnostic Exam before the beginning of the semester. If you have not taken and passed the diagnostic exam prior to the start of classes you will be administratively dropped. The exam will NOT be offered after the semester begins. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Chem 4: Chem 4 is designed for students who do not pass the Chemistry Diagnostic Exam with a score of 35 or higher. All students planning to register for Chem 4 are strongly encouraged to take the Chemistry Diagnostic Exam before instruction begins to accurately determine their need for the class.
- The test can only be taken once per semester and your score is good for 2 semesters.
- If you want to try and get a better score on the exam you must wait until the next semester to take it again.
- If it has been longer than two semesters since you took the exam you must re-take it.
- Scores will show in your My Sac State Student Center once you take the exam.
