Background Information

Willie J. Armstrong comes to the California State University-Sacramento Doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy Program with nearly five years of legislative experience analyzing and drafting education policy proposals at the California State Assembly. He currently serves as legislative director for Assembly Member Anna Caballero and is a member of the Natomas Unified School District Achievement Gap Committee. Willie is also a participant of the California Legislative Education Project Cohort, sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Hewlett Foundation, which travels throughout California surveying best practices of K-12 school districts. Prior to working for the California State Assembly, Willie served in the United States Air Force in Europe for ten years. During his military service, he earned his M.P.A. (Public Administration) and B.A. in Management Studies from the University of Maryland European Division.
