Job Duties: The Community College Foundation’s Sacramento ESTEP is a pilot program within Sacramento County for foster youth ages 12-15, providing in-home youth assessment and ongoing support, one-on-one tutoring, and life skills workshops and experiential activities.
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring to youth in the home or a community site; e.g., library
  • Periodic assessment of math and reading skills of the youth
  • Attend paid tutor training session
  • Participate in follow-up staff and training meetings
  • Complete all paperwork pertinent to tutoring services in a timely manner
  • Maintain organized system of data collection on each youth
  • Be prompt and prepared in attending all scheduled sessions
  • Encourage care provider and youth to obtain school report cards and provide feedback regarding performance
 
Qualifications:
  • 15 college units completed with a minimum 2.5 GPA; be able to provide copy of transcript or school printout
  • Able to provide positive role model for youth
  • Previous experience tutoring or working with youth preferred
  • Capable of quickly relating to and gaining rapport with youth
  • Must have own transportation and valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
  • Employment is contingent on passing a Department of Justice fingerprint background check and obtaining a passing Tuberculosis (TB) Test.

NOTE : Student who is hired for this position will be registered for 6 Co-op units and will be required to pay the corresponding registration fees.


 
Sallary: $9.00 - 12.00/hour DOE  
Deadline: OnGoing  
Hours per week: Minimum 8 hrs/week, Evenings and Weekends preferred
