Service Learning is a program that offers students a connection between community and the classroom. Students are presented with an opportunity to be involved in community projects and groups, develop real-world experiences and to work in potential occupations, at the same time seeing a relationship between the course material and community experiences.

In this course, it involves students experiencing a variety of environments that both influence and are influenced directly and indirectly by family. It offers students an opportunity to see family in society and how it is interrelated with a number of different institutions but also to engage with a diversity of families and family structures, and then bring these experiences back into the classroom to share with others.
