Assistant Professor John P. Forrest Jr. is a full-time faculty member at California State University, Sacramento. He received his Graduate and Undergraduate degrees in Visual Communication Design from Kent State University. His graduate work focused on translating form + message into a narrative in both interactive spaces and time based projects. His time as an educator has been spent primarily in curriculum development with a research agenda related to design education and design education history. His teaching has revolved around professional practice and bringing expanded research methodologies into the classroom at the undergraduate level.

Along with teaching, professional practice has remained a constant for Professor Forrest. With several years of experience in Ohio working for a variety of firms he continues to work with non-profit and corporate clients in Northern California. He has been recognized by the UCDA and the Cleveland Advertising Association with awards of excellence.
