The mission of California State University, Sacramento — a regional
comprehensive public university — is to preserve, communicate, and
advance knowledge; cultivate wisdom; encourage creativity; promote the
value of humankind; and improve the quality of life for its graduates
and the people of the region. The education of students is the central
mission of the University. Therefore, the University faculty’s primary
responsibilities are teaching and the creation of an active learning environment
for students.
In support of the University's mission, the Graphic Design Faculty, Graphic
Design Program in the Department of Design, encourages students to actively
pursue their educational objectives in the field of Graphic Design. Our
role is to guide students in their development as future graphic designers:
as critical thinkers / problem solvers; in their creative endeavors; and
in their understanding of the role technology plays in an ever changing
climate. It is the Graphic Design Faculty's goal to teach students the
power and universality of visual communication as well as the responsibility
that comes from that knowledge.
