Edwards
Hometown: Folsom, Calif.
Major: Sociology. Class of 2005.
Background: Sings with Sac State’s Jazz Singers,
one of two Sac State jazz ensembles to be named “Best Collegiate
Vocal Group” in DownBeat magazine’s 2005 Student Music Awards.
Sang in Folsom High School’s jazz ensemble, which also won a DownBeat
Student Music Award. Assisted with Sociology professor Amy Liu’s
2005 Annual Survey of Public Opinion and Life Quality in the Sacramento
Region.
Highlight: “Singing has definitely been the best
part of my experience at Sac State. I chose Sac State specifically to
sing with the former director of the Jazz Singers.”
Changes: “Since I’ve gotten into sociology,
I’ve become more liberal and more informed. I’m a better writer
and a better reader. I pay more attention to what’s going on and
ask more questions – I’m a better thinker. This campus has
given me a strong base for going on to a master’s program.”
Destination: “I haven’t decided, but I’m
thinking about going into a graduate sociology program. I’d like
to work for a nonprofit organization. I’d like to help women living
in bad situations.”
