Hometown: Kelseyville, Calif.
Major: International Business. Class of 2007.
Background: Tour guide and tele-counselor for University Outreach at Sacramento State.
Influences: “My brother got me started into these campus activities because he also did a lot of stuff on campus. One of his friends used to work in University Outreach and she told me they had positions open. The people in University Outreach, they’re very encouraging of what you do and are just a great group of people.”
Highlight: “Working for outreach has given me so many resources. I’ve gone to meet a lot of people like Emiliano Diaz, the director of Admissions and Records. He helps me out a lot and I have had the opportunity to be on some interview committees like the hiring board for the Student Affairs assistant vice president. Working for him has been a highlight because it really opened my eyes.”
Proudest accomplishment: “I actually wasn’t going to attend the university right off the bat. I’m glad I did straight out of high school. Otherwise I don’t think I would have had the motivation to come here. I would probably have started community college and worked full time. I would probably still be back there taking one class a semester.”
Destination:
“When I graduate I want to get a job working for a business for a year or two and also get an internship for the fall or spring and then go back and get my master’s degree. I’m looking at health administration, so I can have that knowledge of working at a business and work for a hospital.”
