Sacramento State has an enormous impact on the region. The University educates the region’s nurses, public safety officers, teachers and countless other professionals. Sacramento State also reaches out to the community through many programs including Guardian Scholars and the String Project; works with the City of Sacramento through a Memorandum of Understanding; joins agencies in efforts that include the California Smart Grid Center; and participates and hosts events such as the annual Run to Feed the Hungry.

With more than 200,000 alumni, Sacramento State strengthens its ties to the region through its alumni network. The University communicates and publicly honors its alumni, and continues to expand membership in the Alumni Association.
