First Year Seminar Career Curriculum 2016

Attn: First Year Seminar (courses numbered 21) and Learning Community Instructors:

For the spring 2016 semester, the Career Center is offering two options to assist you in introducing your students to the career planning process and to Career Center services and programs. Both options support the First Year Seminar course goals and learning outcomes.

•    Option #1: Classroom Visits:

Instructors have the opportunity to schedule a Career Center staff person to come to your classroom to conduct an interactive session on the career planning process and Career Center programs and services. Submit your program request using our online program request form.

NOTE: We recommend that you schedule your program request early since we are offering a limited number of classroom visits for the spring 2016 semester. The program requests are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

•    Option #2: Suggested Career Planning Curriculum

We have also attached a document that offers several curriculum suggestions for integrating the career planning process into your First Year Seminar. The activities use the career planning process section of the Career Center’s website. We suggest that students come into the Career Center for a drop-in session to discuss how the exercises they completed relate to education and career decisions they are considering.
