Classroom Panels

Classroom Panel presentations provide students, staff, and faculty with a unique opportunity to listen to the personal, first-hand stories and experiences of LGBTQIA individuals. In a safe space environment, audience members are given the chance to ask questions of the panelists. This is a powerful supplement to curriculum and training. We organized 24 panels for the Spring 2012 Semester, with nearly 800 students as audience members.

Every panel is made up of at least one PRIDE Center representative to serve as both a facilitator of the panel and a participant, and a number of volunteers to round out the rest of the panelists. There is a standard format that is used for every panel presentation, which roughly includes an introduction, the sharing of personal stories, and then a Q&A.
