These presentations are meant to supplement classroom curriculum and educate the campus community about LGBTQIA experiences by: 1) giving historical and contemporary contexts to the community and its development, 2) elevating and sharing LGBTQIA narratives, 2) familiarizing folks with LGBTQIA cultures, practices, and terminology.

Identity Narratives
REQUEST FORM CLOSED FOR FALL 2016
Center staff and volunteers serve on a panel and share a narrative of their own identity development. The initial questions the panel answers is: describe the events, processes, thoughts, etc., that contributed to your current LGBTQIA identities, and describe what your current identities mean to you. LGBT History in the U.S. REQUEST FORM CLOSED FOR FALL 2016
Center staff give a lecture on the history of the “LGBTQ community,” centering on three themes: 1) community formation, 2) oppression, and 3) resistance. The presentation draws from dominant research and writing in the field of history, and thusly approaches the subject through a dominant, Western historical lens.
