Strategic Planning and Assessment

PRIDE Center - Strategic Plan
2015-2016

Mission Statement

The PRIDE Center is committed to enriching the campus experience and developing students as individuals and as members of communities. We exist to create and maintain a campus environment that is open, safe, and supportive of student diversity in the areas of sexual orientation and gender identity/expression. Our work is accomplished through student-centered education, outreach, advocacy and support.

Strategies and Assessment

Goal 1: Enhance Student Learning & Success

Strategies and Indicator of Achievement

  1. Engage students in classrooms and organizations with educational presentations about LGBTQIA identities, history, and contemporary issues. The Center will increase the number of student participants by 10% from the previous year’s number (1,539) to approximately 1,700 students. Using a pre- and post-program assessment, 75% of program participants during the Fall 2015 semester will show increased levels of knowledge about LGBTQIA identities and the diversity of LGBTQIA experiences. This will serve as a benchmark for future years’ assessments.

Goal 5: Engage Students in a Comprehensive University Experience

Strategies and Indicators of Achievement

  1. Engage LGBTQIA-identified students in activities and workshops that foster leadership skills and empowerment through the Queer Hornets Leadership Program—a cohort-style group. Using a pre- and post-program assessment, 75% of program participants during the Fall 2015 semester will show increased levels of leadership skills.

*Fall 2015 program is a pilot. Spring 2016 program is dependent on   the level of success of the Fall 2015 program.
