GRADUATE ADVISING

In the first semester of residence as a classified graduate student in English, students may choose or will be assigned an academic advisor from among the English faculty. This faculty member can answer basic questions about course sequencing, requirements, and scheduling. The Graduate Coordinator cannot, however, answer these questions for all students. Instead, the coordinator can help with special problems--transfer of units, academic probation, matriculation to classified status, etc.. Students are strongly encouraged to see their advisor at least once a semester and generally keep that faculty member apprised of their progress in the program.
