Undergraduate Major in English
The Department revises its major requirements periodically. The information on this page is for the major which was in efffect from Fall 2004 to Spring 2011.

Older Major (2004-2011)
Students who will graduate under the Catalogs from Fall 2004-Spring 2011 must complete
45 units of English, including a senior seminar (English 198T) and
a 12 unit concentration. At least 27 units must be in upper division
(100 - 199) courses. Up to18 units may be in lower-division (0-99
level) courses. English 1, 1A, 1B, 1C, 2, 20, 109E, and 109W may
not be counted toward the major. Grades of "C-" or better
are required in all courses in the major. 18 of the units for the
major, including at least 15 upper division units, must be taken
in residence at California State University, Sacramento. Up to 6
units of ENGL195 or ENGL199 may be included in the 27 upper division
units. Three units in an upper division literature class from another
major may also be included. ENGL20 has been waived for English majors
because English majors must complete ENGL120A: Advanced Composition.
Courses completed in the Area of Interest may not overlap with required
courses. For students entering the program in Fall 2009, the Writing
Intensive requirement must be fulfilled with a course taken in the
major.
