Angelina Jolie Voight
Biography
![]() |
Angelina Jolie, one of the sexiest women alive, has come to be known as Hollywood's premier bad girl. With the intoxicating charm of a dangerous woman, a unique, unorthodox beauty and immense acting talent, Jolie commands the screen like some kind of cinematic dominatrix (www.AskMen.com). Off the screen, Angelina was once known for wild antics while younger but has become cultivated; a more mature image as a United Nations ambassador for children's issues. |

Angelina Jolie Voight was born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, CA to Oscar winning actor Jon Voight and French actress Marcheline (Michelle) Bertrand. According to AskMen.com, Jolie used used her middle name as her last name so that she did not have to bear the burden of her father's name and in order to succeed independent of him.

Marcheline and Jon divorced not long after Jolie's birth. After the divorce Jolie moved around a lot with her mother
and brother, James Haven, until they decided to settle in New York, where she attended
the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute at the age of 11. She then
detoured into modeling at the age of 16 in cities like New York, Los
Angeles, and Paris. She then continued her education at New York University, where she
was cast in theatrical productions.
Jolie lived in New York City with her mother and brother until they relocated to Los Angeles. Jolie's childhood dream was to grow up and be a funeral director, but she then got her break in Hackers. From there, her acting career just kept going up and has yet to show any sign of slowing. |
But, that was not her first film. She had her first taste of the film industry in 1982 in Lookin' to Get Out, starring her father. She then went on to be cast into many of her brother's films at University of Southern California. And right before Hackers, she played a small role in Cyborg 2.
From high-flying stunts in car stealing and treasure hunting movies to her latest soon-to-be-released movie with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie is all about action.
Angelina Jolie stars in a lot of action movies which led me to wonder why this was so. In “real life,” Jolie’s life really is full of action. She works a lot to help the people of developing countries. She adopted a little boy from Cambodia, Maddox, which supposedly caused a rift in her relationship with then-husband, Billy Bob Thornton that ultimately led to their divorce - or so the tabloids say. When she is not busy making movies, she is out of the country, helping others who really do need help.

Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) |
| In Gone in Sixty Seconds with Nicholas Cage, she stars as another tomboyish figure who was part of a gang that stole high profile cars. Nicholas Cage stars as an ex-thief who has given up his criminal ways and is now working a legitimate job and sending money back home to help his mother and younger brother. Cage is approached one day by a friend from his old days, who now works for the new boss in town, and tells him that Cage’s brother is being held hostage and will not be freed unless Cage steals the cars the new boss wants and within the deadline or his brother is dead. Cage is forced to steal the cars to save his brother but to do so he must find and recruit all the old members of his team, including Jolie. She is now working a decent job as a mechanic and refuses to help him but pulls through for him in the end. This movie is action packed and a thriller to the end. | |

Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001)
|
| Not enough action for you yet? In Angelina Jolie’s action thriller Tomb Raider, based on the game, she stars as Lara Croft, the treasure hunter. Lara Croft is a wealthy, British archeologist/tomb raider who tries to thwart a secret society called the Illuminati who are seeking two pieces of a mysterious device hidden in two different places of the world in order to use it during a rare planetary alignment to bring them unlimited power to control or destroy the world. Lara happens to find that key hidden in a wall of her mansion. The Illuminati steal it, and Lara gets an old letter from her deceased father telling her about the society's agenda (Her father was also the one who hid the key). Now, she must retrieve the key and find and destroy the talisman before the Illuminati can get their hands on it. When I first saw this movie, I thought it was very well done. The storyline was a little different from the actual game but, in general, it followed the game's storyline quite well. Jolie did her own stunts, and is quite proud of it too. | |

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003)
|
| The first Tomb Raider was such a success that they decided to make a sequel, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Lara Croft has made perhaps the most important archaeological discovery in history: an orb that leads to the mythical Pandora's Box. Unfortunately, the orb falls into the hands of Jonathan Reiss, an evil scientist who deals in killer viruses and hopes to sell the secrets of the box as the ultimate weapon. She is recruited by British Intelligence to get the orb back from Reiss and help protect the world from him. Lara recruits Terry Sheridan, a British marine turned mercenary (and her former love interest) to help. The first fight was very intense but the last two were let-downs. Fights are usually supposed to get better and more challenging as the movie progresses but in this one, the fights just got easier. The items she needed to get from the last two “bad guys” were taken from them like taking candy from a baby. She partnered up with an old lover to save the world only to find him turn on her. | |

| In her latest soon-to-be-released movie with super-hottie Brad Pitt, she stars as Pitt’s wife. They are both assassins and do not know... until they are contracted to kill each other. They attempt to kill each other within their home but feel they must still be husbandly and wifely so they call out to each other, “Honey, are you okay?” I think it is going to be a great action-packed movie but we will all have to see how well this movie does at the box office. | |
