Summer Bridge Frequent Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Who can participate in Summer Bridge?
Incoming Sac State first-time freshmen who are admitted to EOP and have taken the Entry Level Math (ELM) and English Placement Test (EPT) by February 1, 2009 are given priority consideration for the program.

2. How much does Summer Bridge cost?
Summer Bridge is a FREE six-week program! We also provide a weekly lunch stipend, textbooks, and parking permits for students who are admitted to the program.

3. How long is Summer Bridge?
Summer Bridge is a six-week intensive academic program.

4. What are the courses offered during the summer?
Courses typically include English, Math, a GE course, and a College Transition course.

5. Do I get credit for passing the courses?
Students who pass the courses offered in Summer Bridge will get college credits.

6. Can I work while participating in the program?
We highly recommend that students do not work during Summer Bridge since students will have an intense, full-time academic work load.

7. Does Summer Bridge provide housing?
NO, Summer Bridge does NOT provide housing.

8. How do I know if I have been admitted to Summer Bridge?
You will receive an email from the program. Please check your email regularly and be sure to check your Junk/Spam folder for emails from Summer Bridge! In the email, please click on the link to confirm your acceptance to Summer Bridge. You MUST confirm your acceptance to Summer Bridge to be in the program.

9. I have been admitted to Summer Bridge, what classes will I be taking?
You will be placed in Mathematics and English courses based on your ELM and EPT scores. Please refer to the Academic Advising webpage on the ELM/EPT for more detailed information regarding placement and requirements.

10. I have been admitted to Summer Bridge and I am confused about registering for Orientation, what should I do?
Once you have been admitted to Summer Bridge, you will receive an email regarding registration for Orientation. As a Summer Bridge students, you will be participating in a special Orientation session during Summer Bridge on Monday July 13th, 2009. As a Summer Bridge student, you will register for Orientation at the reduces cost of $18.00. This is the ONLY Orientation session you need to register for as a Summer Bridge student.
