Toni

As a student, I was prepared by very diverse and knowledgeable faculty in the areas of ethnic diversity, cultural sensitivity and identity. It is my hope that I will return to Sacramento State’s Ethnic Studies Department to teach and mentor aspiring students.

This program not only offered me a warm and understanding atmosphere, it provided me analytical tools that have helped me in my academic career. I was able to see how my research could be used to create positive change within Native Communities.

YangV

Ethnic Studies taught me the importance of community and political involvement.  I was able to work with community leaders  to address problems within my community. Through these hands-on experiences, I gained leadership and consensus-building skills that helped me empower my community.

Yang Lee

RebekahV

Being an Ethnic Studies major, I had various opportunities to volunteer within the community. Through those opportunities I discovered a love for transmitting and utilizing the knowledge I had gained within the scope of my major and I am looking forward to bringing those skills with me in the future when I obtain my M.A. Degree in T.E.S.O.L. (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
