Guy West Bridge picnic celebrates food

In the first event of its kind in recent memory, more than 150 Sacramento State students, faculty, staff and guests had lunch Thursday, Sept. 19, on the Guy West Bridge as a thank-you from the University to the students who have brought farmers markets to campus. The event also saluted the regional farm-to-fork movement and the University's support of that effort.

STEM Lecture to explore Sac State research on earthquake-proof homes

secondary story image Civil Engineering Professor Ben Fell will discuss the prospect of building earthquake-proof homes at this fall's first STEM Lecture on Thursday, Sept. 26. Students have worked for a year on the project with Fell - winner last spring of the President's Research and Creative Activity Award - underscoring President Alexander Gonzalez' praise that Fell's research "is central to the University's mission" of providing graduates with "practical hands-on education" that makes them essential to the economy.
