Sac State will hold first Commencement at Golden 1 Center
Sacramento State will head downtown for Spring Commencement 2017, with graduation exercises Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20, at the new Golden 1 Center.
“We are excited that this partnership will allow our Hornet Family to experience and celebrate graduation in a setting that showcases the best of Sacramento and has a profound connection to the region,” says President Robert S. Nelsen.
More than 5,300 students are eligible to participate in the ceremonies – the highest number of eligible graduates that Sacramento State has seen for its Spring Commencement.
In addition, three prominent community members will be honored by the University during Spring Commencement. Pastor Ephraim Williams of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and Sacramento Bee President and Publisher Cheryl Dell, a Sac State alumna, will receive honorary doctorates. Alumnus Garry Maisel, president and CEO of Western Health Advantage, will receive a President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
Participating graduates can claim up to nine complimentary tickets for Spring Commencement, and ceremonies will be live-streamed on the Commencement website. In addition, the University will host a viewing party at the University Union on campus. A ticket exchange will be available for graduates who will not use their full allotment.
