Building our Future

Coming October 5: Future Hornet Day

What's it like to be a Hornet? More than 1,000 prospective college students, their parents and other family members will find out when they come to campus Saturday, Oct. 5, to check out Sacramento State's facilities, programs and people.

Future Hornet Day runs from 1 to 4 p.m., with check-in beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the Main Quad.

Visitors will get to tour the campus; attend information sessions on admissions, housing and financial aid; and meet and mingle with students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Students and their families can register for the event online right up through Oct. 4.

Past participants have described the event as one of the best they've attended, featuring an approachable, welcoming and informative staff.

Future Hornet Day highlights include:

  • Guided tours
  • Fun activities featuring food, games and more
  • Information and demonstrations about academic programs and the admissions process
  • A visit to on-campus housing
  • A chance to meet representatives from some of Sac State's 250 student clubs

And what better day to host the prospective students than Homecoming.

Sacramento State takes on the Northern Colorado Bears the night of Oct. 5, and every registered Future Hornet Day guest gets to see the game for free. Homecoming festivities begin at 3 p.m. in the Alumni Center parking lot with tailgating, music, food, a kids zone and a parade led by Sac State mascot Herky. Kickoff is at 6:05 p.m.

It's a full day and evening designed to show the prospective students just why it's great to be a Hornet. — Craig Koscho
