The California State University, Sacramento Dietetic Internship is a 12-month Internship, which provides 48 weeks of full-time or part-time supervised practice with a minimum of 1400 hours of planned experience plus 10 units of graduate didactic coursework that will fulfill the Core Competencies for Dietitians. Successful completion of this Dietetic Internship after following a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), allows the Intern to sit for the Registration Examination. A signed verification form from your undergraduate program is necessary before proceeding with the Dietetic Internship. Two weeks of vacation time are allowed within the 12-month program. Vacation is scheduled in Winter and Spring, taking into consideration facility accommodations.

The program is structured to provide didactic coursework on Monday's and full-time supervised practice on Tuesday – Fridays. Practice sites may require some weekend and holiday work. Government Holidays on Mondays will be additional time off, as no class time will be scheduled.

The supervised practice is divided into segments:

Clinical Rotation: 20-22 weeks
Community Rotation: 6-8 weeks
Foodservice Administration Rotation: 8-10 weeks
Outpatient Rotation: 6-8 weeks
Elective Rotation: 0-2 weeks
