Program Application Process

It is extremely important that applicants review our Application Instructions thoroughly to properly complete all requirements specific to our program.

The CSU Sacramento Dietetic Internship Program is using the on-line centralized internship application, DICAS, which may be found at https://portal.dicas.org , e-mail DICASinfo@DICAS.org. The on-line application must be completed for our program by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on February 15, 2014. The fee to use DICAS is $40 for the first application submitted and $20 for each additional application.

Applicants must still register online for computer matching at www.dnddigital.com and select dietetic internship priority choices by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on February 15. There is a $50.00 computer matching fee.

When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an e-mail address) for each reference. This will trigger an e-mail message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed on-line. The DICAS service will send the same 3 recommendation forms to all internship sites to which they are applying. Once your request for a reference form has been made, it is your responsibility to monitor the status of your application and to ensure that your reference forms are completed and received at DICAS in a timely manner.

Applicants who apply to internships using DICAS will be asked to complete a personal statement. Your personal statement can be customized for each program you apply. This is the criteria to include for your personal statement specific to our program: 

  • Why have you chosen the dietetics profession?
  • Discuss experiences that have helped prepare you for a career in dietetics.
  • What in particular about our program interests you? Why is it important for you to complete your training at CSU Sacramento?
  • Discuss your leadership style and examples of when you took leadership role(s).
  • What are your short-term and long-term goals?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses or areas needing improvement?
  • 8,000 characters or approximately 1,000 WORD LIMIT

Application Addendum

An Application Addendum must be uploaded to DICAS for our program at the "Dietetic Internship Program Designation" section as a "supplemental file". Completed pages in the Application Addendum must be typed. Pages in the Addendum file to upload as a "supplemental file" include:

  • Summary Form
  • Science GPA Worksheet
  • Statement of Application

The Summary Form, Science GPA Worksheet and Statement of Application is a 3-page Word document fillable-form template.

Please note: The "supplemental file" you upload to DICAS is NOT the same as the SUPPLEMENTAL APPLICATION FORM which is mailed to our program with your DICAS confirmation receipt and application fee. See further information below.

Once you have completed the application, paid the DICAS submission fee, and successfully submitted your application, PRINT a copy of your DICAS payment confirmation/receipt.

Supplemental Application Form

Download and complete the Supplemental Application Form.

Mail the 1) Supplemental Application Form, 2) DICAS payment receipt/confirmation of submission, and 3) $55 application fee to:

The $55 application fee can be paid by check or money order made payable to CSU Sacramento. Ensure the applicant name is written on the check (on notes/memo area). Please do NOT send cash or submit credit card information for fee payment.

A self-addressed stamped postcard can be included in your envelope and will be returned as confirmation of receipt of application and payment.

You MUST thoroughly review the application instructions to ensure proper completion of your application.

Please note: Students must notify the Dietetic Internship Program Director if they accept/reject the computer match by 5:00 pm on Appointment day of the program’s time zone.
