Areas of specialty: Maternal nutrition in embryo development, fetal growth, and lactation. I am interested in the role of nutrition in the promotion and prevention of birth defects and the role of breastfeeding and infant feeding on the development of obesity.

My research interests are nutrition assessment involving dietary intake methodology, anthropometry, and functional status evaluation; clinical implications of malnutrition and malnutrition assessment using the nutrition-focused physical examination. I am also interested in qualitative studies involving focus group methodology and research investigating the impact of acculturation on dietary behaviors and health attitudes.
