Pre-Credential-Single Subject Matter Program

“While the program document is under review by the CTC, students interested in applying to a teacher preparation program must pass the CSET exams in order to demonstrate subject matter competence in Family/Consumer Sciences.”

This program prepares students to teach Home Economics in middle and high schools.  Study includes coursework in all areas of FACS: Nutrition and Food, Fashion Merchandising and Design, and Family Studies. As an undergraduate, students complete an internship in a middle or high school in the Sacramento area.  Graduates are prepared to enter the Single Subject Teaching Credential Program. The concentration has been reinstated to prepare students to fill a growing need for Home Economics Educators.   The program has been updated to meet the new California Career Technical Education (CTE) Curriculum Standards and Home Economics Teacher Preparation Standards of Quality and Effectiveness for Subject Matter Programs.
