February is Financial Aid Awareness Month

The 2013-2014 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available beginning January 1, 2013 for the 13/14 academic year. The priority filing deadline is March 2, 2013. File your FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov before the priority date to maximize your consideration for all types of financial aid.

The Financial Aid Office will be hosting free FAFSA workshops to help students and families complete the FAFSA. At each workshop there will be:

  • FREE one-on-one assistance with a Financial Aid Professional
  • FREE food
  • FREE prizes

What should you bring?

  • Your (student) PIN to sign FAFSA; For dependent students (under age 24) - Your parent will need to sign with their own PIN
  • Your 2012 tax information (and your parent's info, if dependent; and spouse's info, if married):

     -2012 Tax Return (1040s), W2s, and income information

     -2012 Asset information (cash, checking, savings, investments, stocks)

     -2012 Untaxed income, if you are not required to file taxes (e.g. Social Security benefits)

  • Social Security card and driver's licensce/State ID
  • Permanent Residency card, if you are an eligible non-citizen

Not eligible to file the FAFSA?

If you meet AB540 requirements, your are eligible to complete the Dream Act Application. Click here to review the eligibility criteria and access the Dream Act application. Remember, the priority deadline is March 2nd!

Where do I park?

Parking permits are required to park on campus, except in designated timed spaces. Parking permits are available from one of the daily permit machines, the Visitor Information booths, or the UTAPS Office. Permit machines are located in student lots 1, 7, 8, 9, 5th floor of Parking Structure I, 3rd floor of Parking Structure II and the 3rd floor of Parking Structure III. Parking permit fees are $6 per day, or $3 for two hours. Our Parking Map also shows the locations of each permit machine.

How do I apply for Cal Grant?

Continuing undergraduate students who have not been awarded a Cal Grant and who are California residents are encouraged to apply by filing the 2013-14 FAFSA by February 20th.  Sacramento State will automatically send the required Cal Grant GPA Verification to the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) prior to the March 2nd deadline.

New undergraduate students who do not have at least 24 college units completed at Sacramento State must have the required Cal Grant GPA Verification form completed by their high school or your previously attended college.

Be sure to answer all of the asset questions on the FAFSA to avoid any delays in determining eligibility for Cal Grant.
