Foreign Language Proficiency Testing within the CSUS Foreign Language Department

* Before doing ANY of the following, you must first fill out the Proficiency Test Sign-up Form and take it to Student Financial Services (Lassen Hall room 1001), where you will pay a $10 testing fee. You will ABSOLUTELY need to show proof of payment (a receipt) before you are given the proficiency exam.

Below you will find the information for how to test to meet the Foreign Language Graduation Proficiency Requirement in languages, which are offered by the Department of Foreign Languages.

Chinese (Cantonese)
Those who have signed up for the Cantonese Listening & Reading Proficiency Tests should go to 2051 Mariposa Hall (Department of Foreign Languages) on the exam date and time. CRITICAL: Late comers will NOT be admitted. NO EXCEPTIONS!!

Bring: photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, a pen, and your copy of the test fee receipt. Tests will begin as soon as everyone is checked in and will end no later than 3:30 pm.

If testing for International Business, Nursing, etc., request a copy of the results for your department.

Chinese (Mandarin)
To meet the Foreign Languages Graduation requirement by taking Mandarin Proficiency Tests, contact Dr. Robinson (phone: 278-6726, email: robinsonl@csus.edu) to arrange a testing time. Bring photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, and your copy of the test fee receipt to the test.

If testing to meet additional requirements, as for International Business or for Nursing, request a copy of the results for your department.

French
To meet the Foreign Language Proficiency Requirement by taking French Proficiency Tests, contact Professor Elstob (phone: 278-6565, email: kelstob@csus.edu) to arrange a testing time. Bring photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, and a copy of the test fee receipt to the test.

If testing to meet additional requirement, as for International Business or for Nursing, request a copy of the results for your department.

German
To meet the Foreign Language Proficiency Requirement by taking German Proficiency tests, contact Dr. Wade (phone: 278-5508, email: mdwade@csus.edu) to arrange a testing time. Bring photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, and your copy of the test fee receipt to the test.

If testing to meet additional requirements, as for International Business or for Nursing, request a copy of the results for your department.

Italian
To meet the Foreign Language Proficiency Requirement by taking Italian Proficiency tests, contact Professor Elstob (phone: 278-6565, email: kelstob@csus.edu) to arrange a testing time. Bring photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, and your copy of the test fee receipt to the test.

Japanese
To meet the Foreign Language Graduation requirement by taking Japanese Proficiency Tests, contact Professor Luk (phone: 278-6300, email: lukkc@csus.edu) to arrange a testing time. Bring photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, and your copy of the test fee receipt to the test.

Latin or Ancient Greek
To meet the Foreign Language Graduation requirement by taking Latin or Ancient Greek Proficiency Tests, contact Professor Riley (phone: 278-4017, email: mtriley@csus.edu) to arrange a testing time. Bring photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, and your copy of the test fee receipt to the test.

Portuguese
To meet the Foreign Languages Graduation requirement by taking Portuguese Proficiency Tests, contact Professor Avendano (phone: 278-5506, email: avendano@csus.edu) to arrange a testing time. Bring photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, and your copy of the test fee receipt to the test.

Russian
To meet the Foreign Language Graduation requirement by taking Russian Proficiency Tests, contact Professor Gray (phone: 278-6839, email: jflgray@pacbell.net ) to arrange a testing time. Bring photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, and your copy of the test fee receipt to the test.

If testing to meet additional requirements, as for International Business or for Nursing, request a copy of the results for your department.

Spanish
Those who have signed up for the Spanish Listening & Reading Proficiency Tests go to Mariposa 2051 (Department of Foreign Languages) on the exam date and time.

Bring: photo identification, number two pencils with erasers, a pen, and a copy of your test fee receipt. Tests will begin as soon as everyone is checked in and will end no later that 8:00 pm.

If testing for International Business, Nursing, etc., request a copy of the results for you department.
