Carefully
read our Master
of Arts in Spanish Program information. All the
information about the program is on these pages!
There are 3 different steps in the application process.
Step 1. Evaluation of program course prerequisites. Please mail me a photocopy of your transcripts so I can check your GPA and verify that you have taken all course prerequisites. Please put an asterisk on all upper division Spanish and Linguistic courses. Remember that you must also have a BA degree in hand and a 3.0 GPA in your last 60 attempted semester units in order to be considered for the program.
Step 2. Applying to the Department. If you receive a positive evaluation of the course prerequisites and wish to continue the application process, send me the following in one envelope:
-
A brief cover letter, followed by a 1-page Statement of Purpose written in English or Spanish.
-
A 5-page writing sample in Spanish from any previous coursework that was graded by an instructor.
-
2 letters of recommendation if you did not complete your BA at CSUS.
-
One sealed copy of your official transcripts.
Step 3. Applying to the Office of Graduate Studies. If you are accepted into the MA in Spanish program by the Graduate Advisor, you then must complete the online graduate school application for the Office of Graduate Studies: http://www.csus.edu/gradstudies/GRADADM.htm
(Note: There is a $55 charge to apply to the Office of Graduate Studies and the application must be done online. Students should consult the webpage of the Office of Graduate Studies—not the graduate advisor—to see exactly what documents are required as part of the application process.)
Summer MA students must also fill out the Travel Study application form: Download Summer Travel Study Application ($500 deposit required).
Please mail this application and deposit to:
