The Go-To Crew Mentors

The First Year Experience Go-To Crew assist first year students by serving as a Academic Mentor to individual students and the Sac State community. The Go-To Crew mentors support first year students during their transition from high school to Sacramento State. Our team leaders are focused on first year student success. Responsibilities include mentoring students, facilitating study groups, facilitating dicussions about their academic interests, promoting learning communities, presenting to classes to promote FYE, working with faculty, staff and students who have common research interests, promoting campus events, supporting program partners and their projects, monitoring the FYE space, and general clerical duties.

WHAT WE DO

The Go-To Crew mentors support first year student success in the following ways:

1)     assist students in their transition from high school to the first year in college
2)     facilitate conversations about academic interests
3)     discuss advising resources
4)     discuss general education requirements
5)     have conversations regarding progress to degree completion
6)     promote learning communities 
7)     guide students how to register for classes in the Schedule Planner  in My Sac State.
8)     present workshops on study techniques and time management
9)     host group study sessions
10)   connect students to various campus resources
11)   encourage students to get involved in the Sac State community and campus events
  
Their responsibilities include promoting FYE activities, mentoring students, facilitating study groups, speaking to classes about the FYE SPACE in #LIB3520, collaborating with faculty and staff, organizing events, supporting other academic programs, monitoring the FYE space, and general clerical duties.
