Welcome to the Department of Geology

The faculty and staff of the CSUS Geology Department are committed to providing the best geological education available anywhere. We meet this commitment through high-quality teaching, close student-faculty interaction, undergraduate and graduate research, and an emphasis on field geology.

We offer B.A. and B.S. degrees in Geology, a B.A degree in Geoscience for future teachers and a B.A. degree in Earth Science. We also offer a Master of Science degree in Geology, with student opportunities in applied hydrogeology, aqueous geochemistry, engineering geology, geophysics, groundwater modeling, igneous petrology, mineralogy, sedimentology & stratigraphy, structure & tectonics, surficial processes, and volcanology.

Summer 2009 Geology Courses

This summer the Geology Department is offering two televised courses designed to help us understand and deal with the wild geologic hazards around us.  The classes are Geol 7 - Natural Disasters and Geol 140 - Environmental Geology. Please contact the department or click here for more information.
