Welcome to the Department of Geology
The faculty and staff of the CSUS Geology Department are committed to providing the best geological education available anywhere. We meet this commitment through high-quality teaching, close student-faculty interaction, undergraduate and graduate research, and an emphasis on field geology.
We offer B.A. and B.S. degrees in Geology, a B.A degree in Geoscience
for future teachers and a B.A. degree in Earth Science. We also offer a Master of Science degree in Geology, with student
opportunities in applied hydrogeology, aqueous geochemistry, engineering geology,
geophysics, groundwater modeling, igneous petrology, mineralogy, sedimentology & stratigraphy, structure & tectonics, surficial
processes, and volcanology.

Geology Department announces new Earth Science major
The Geology Department has created a new Earth Science major designed for those interested in geoscience teaching, science journalism or even working as a park ranger. For more information, check out the program description here.
Geology Major selected as a Faculty Endowment Scholar
Rebecca Tsang was one of the students selected from a large pool of applicants in recognition of her academic record and service.. The honor comes with a scholarship. A reception honoring this year's awardees will take place on Thursday March 20th at 3pm in the Hinde Auditorium.
